The year moves on. Summer begins, bringing with it heat that—were it not for air conditioning in our homes, workplaces, and cars—would make it impossible to stay cool and comfortable. Discomfort is bothersome, tiring, and exhausting. The same applies to the reality of sin; it wounds, causes pain, wears us down, and holds us captive. Yet, we have something that refreshes us, brings us rest, and grants us peace—a comfort for the soul before God: Confession. The world lives in sin, and we dislike discussing the subject—unless it is to point fingers at others. Let us give ourselves the chance to step out of that dramatic and sorrowful reality. Let us ask God for forgiveness for our sins; let us not allow the world to remain in darkness. If we turn to Confession, we make room for peace—for the tranquility the world so desperately needs.
