Words of the Priest Feb/08/2026

In ten days, Lent will begin. It is known as a significant time in the Church, as it invites us to strengthen our charity, penance, and prayer. These are words that evoke a certain antipathy in us and are unpopular in these times of apostasy and loss of faith in which we live. We have been taught for a long time now, perhaps with good intentions, that God does not demand, that He does not punish, that hell does not exist, that purgatory was invented by the Church in the Middle Ages; that God will take us all to heaven. These things are not true. Ask yourself: why pray? Why do penance? Why practice charity if in the end we are all going to heaven because God is so good? We forget that the Word of God is very clear when it tells us that each one will be judged according to their works. Catholics do not want to remember, acknowledge, and accept these words that come from the Bible itself. We have become mediocre and complacent Catholics. Lent calls us to reflect on our spiritual life and our relationship with God and our brothers and sisters. If we’re all going to heaven because God is so good, we wouldn’t even need to go to Mass. Why would we? God is infinite love and loves us just as we are, regardless of what we do, and will have us in heaven the day we die. Do you believe that?
Have a blessed Sunday, brothers and sisters.
