A FALSE GOSPEL
THE GOSPEL, a word we sometimes don’t understand. Gospel means good news, good news. News that is not only new but good. And what’s so good about it? That Jesus took away the burden of original sin; that He gives us new life, a life in heaven after we die; that salvation is for all those who accept His message; that the promises of salvation are not only for the chosen people (the Jews) but also for those who do not belong to that race and culture. Now, what’s so new about it? That Jesus shows us a new way of living the faith; that He gives us a new commandment, that of love. And what does all this have to do with the title of this writing? This good news is being preached wrong. We are only told of God’s love, God’s mercy, the Lord’s forgiveness, the joys we find in Him, the hope He offers us, and happiness in heaven. All of this is true. The falsehood is that this isn’t the whole Gospel, it’s only a part of it, and when they preach or teach us only a part of it, they’re lying to us, or at least they’re not telling us the whole story. The Gospel of Jesus also speaks and preaches to us about conversion, about abandoning sin, about repentance, about sacrifice, about self-denial, about carrying the cross, about eternal damnation, about purgatory, about hell, about how each person will be judged according to their works, etc.
By not speaking about this part of the Gospel, we cut off the message and teaching of Jesus.
Why aren’t these topics, which are part of the Gospel, preached about now? You can answer and analyze that question.
