For many, mass is something very tedious and boring. That is why the priest has to be very original, funny, and creative, so that people do not get bored and continue to attend.
What do people say after leaving mass, if they were happy? Ah..! How funny the priest was, how he made us laugh, when he sprayed holy water on us with the water pistol. Ah..! What a fun mass, when the priest went out on a skateboard through the entire church corridor. Ah..! What an entertaining mass when the priest sang and began to dance country music at the time of collecting the offering. The priest stopped being a priest to become a showman.
Mass is not for fun, mass is not an activity like a conference or a recreational event. Mass is the bloodless sacrifice of Christ; mass is the actualization of the passion and death of Our Lord; Mass is not a dinner with friends, where we all eat with great pleasure with Jesus. Mass is a moment of adoration and worship of God and of recognizing Jesus as the one who gave his life for us. You do not go to Mass to have fun, you go to Mass because you love Jesus, because you know you are a sinner, because you understand that Jesus feeds you with his body, to give you new life, to strengthen you in your weaknesses and sins.
If you want to have fun, go to the movies, to a circus, go to a basketball game; go fishing or play golf; go to the countryside to walk, or stay at home watching a Netflix movie. If you go to Mass, do not look for fun, look for your sanctification
