There is a morning prayer in the Church that priests and lay people pray, but especially priests, called Lauds, that is, praises to God. This prayer always begins like this: MY GOD, COME TO MY AID. LORD, HURRY TO HELP ME.
Help and haste.
We all need God’s help and we long for it to be quick. We are all weak, no matter how much we pretend we can do everything, but that’s not the case. We carry many fears, many insecurities; doubts that overwhelm us. That’s why we ask for help, the Church knows this. And we need help quickly.
It’s necessary to remember that the Christian life is a battle. We don’t live in the peace of paradise, but in a world full of conflicts and problems that is in the hands of the evil one. It’s a fight to the death that we cannot win on our own. We must recognize that we need God’s grace. What’s that about grace? It is a special favor that comes only from God, from no one else; not from the Virgin Mary, nor from the Angels or the saints. Only from God. In the Psalms, we see how the psalmist says: MY HELP COMES FROM THE LORD. Therefore, we must turn to God quickly, urgently, and trust in Him. Otherwise, we will succumb.
Let’s face it: WE NEED GOD AND HIS HELP PROMPTLY.
